During his inaugural address to the United Nations General Assembly, Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten emphasized the importance of defending the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the broader international legal order. Jetten urged nations to stand against attempts to undermine the ICC, which is located in The Hague, asserting that such attacks could destabilize the global legal framework.

Prime Minister Jetten highlighted the need for accountability concerning Russia’s ongoing military actions in Ukraine. He stated that Ukraine is compelled to defend itself against Russia’s continued aggression, underlining the significance of holding violators of international law accountable.

Reaffirming the Netherlands’ commitment to international institutions and the rule of law, Jetten stressed their essential role in maintaining global peace and ensuring accountability. His address underscored the Dutch government’s support for these institutions as vital components of the international community.
